India Defeats Pakistan by 7 Wickets in Cricket World Cup

India defeated Pakistan by seven wickets in the Cricket World Cup on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, India.

India won the toss and elected to bat first, scoring 305-7 in 50 overs. Rohit Sharma led the way for India with 140 runs, while Virat Kohli scored 57 runs.

Pakistan was bowled out for 228 in 49.2 overs. Shaheen Shah Afridi was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan with 4-31.

India captain Rohit Sharma said that the win was a “special moment” for the team.

“It’s a great feeling to win against Pakistan,” Sharma said. “We played really well with the bat and the ball. It was a complete performance from us.”

Pakistan captain Babar Azam said that his team was disappointed with the loss.

“We didn’t bat well enough,” Azam said. “We need to improve our batting if we want to win the World Cup.”

The win was India’s first against Pakistan in a World Cup match since 2012.
