Google is expected to announce its next generation of Pixel smartphones, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, at an event on October 26, 2023. According to leaked information, the new phones will feature a number of improvements over their predecessors, including a new Tensor chip, a redesigned camera system, and a longer-lasting battery.
New Tensor Chip
The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will be powered by Google’s new Tensor chip, which is said to be significantly faster and more powerful than the Tensor chip found in the Pixel 7 series. The new chip is expected to improve performance, battery life, and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.
Improved Camera System
The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are also expected to feature a new camera system. The Pixel 8 will have a dual-lens rear camera system with a 50-megapixel main sensor and a 12-megapixel ultrawide sensor. The Pixel 8 Pro will have a triple-lens rear camera system with a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 48-megapixel telephoto sensor, and a 12-megapixel ultrawide sensor.
Longer-Lasting Battery
The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are also expected to have longer-lasting batteries than their predecessors. The Pixel 8 is expected to have a 4,600mAh battery, while the Pixel 8 Pro is expected to have a 5,000mAh battery.
Other Features
In addition to the new Tensor chip, redesigned camera system, and longer-lasting battery, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are also expected to feature a number of other improvements, including:
- A new design with a more rounded shape
- A larger display with a higher refresh rate
- Faster charging
- Improved software features
Pricing and Availability
The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are expected to be priced starting at $699 and $899, respectively. The phones are expected to be available for purchase on October 28, 2023.
